Suburban areas tend to merge together, which is a phenomenon of the late 20th century. By definition, suburban areas are not really part of a city, but they are closely linked to the nearest major city. Suburban life is characteristic of the Western middle class. It is part of city development while, at the same time, remaining apart from it. Planning a suburban area means landscaping our immediate surroundings, the environment where we live.
How strong is the influence of the media‹radio, TV or even the World Wide Web? Do they influence our lifestyle? Do they shape our personal lives? What effect do they have on landscaping our surroundings? It¹s not easy to see, but we can try to investigate the connections between what is real and what is influenced by the media!
Looking at both in this project, we will try to distinguish between fact and the fiction that is created by the media.

Buckminster Fuller provozierte 1929 - bevor es das Fernsehen gab - die Frage, ob der
Bildschirm in einer Wohnung zum Fenster wird oder umgekehrt. Bis heute kommen
die Auswirkungen der digitalen Welt auf die Wohnformen über vage Vermutungen
nicht hinaus. Dennoch handelt es sich um eine Veränderung, deren endgültige Taufe
wohl erst post festum stattfinden wird.
"Das Etui, wie Walter Benjamin die Wohnung noch bezeichnete, füllt sich heute nicht
nur mit Erinnerungsgegenständen, sondern mit dem Universum. Die Welt ist im
Privatraum abrufbar, Vergangenheit ist gespeichert und die technischen Apparate
verwandeln die Wohnung in ein Weltzentrum. Heute ist das Wohnen zwar auch, aber
nur vordergründig Ausdruck einer Individualisierung; im Kern ist es ein Provisorium

zwischen realen und virtuellen - Orten bewegt ..."
